After many years of looking at powerboats and owning several I knew what I wanted for the perfect excursion vessel to show people this incredible area. I needed a strong hull to withstand bumping into icebergs, a deep “V” bottom to handle those days when the wind picks up, huge windows, private head(restroom) and an easy way to get on and off. Both at the dock and at a remote beach! Three years ago, I finally found the man who could build it for me. He has been designing and building custom commercial aluminum boats for 30 years. The “Tongass Jem” is thirty feet long and ten wide, with viewing decks, bow and stern, a large heated cabin mid-ship and has drop-down bow ramp to easily get to shore without getting your feet wet or think you are at a climbing gym! Its powered by two large outboards to safely and quickly get us to our destination. Also, I limit my tours to six guests, so you’ll have plenty of room and not think you’re on bus.
